Copa Claro Draw

For his ninth appearance at Argentina's ATP tournament, David has been drawn into the top half and after playing his first match against a qualifier (qualifying draw here), he could face either Juan Monaco or Filippo Volandri - again - in the second round:

[1] David Ferrer (ESP) vs [Q] Andres Molteni (ARG)
[WC] Facundo Bagnis (ARG) vs Leonardo Mayer (ARG)
[WC] Fernando Gonzalez (CHI) vs Albert Montañes (ESP)
Albert Ramos (ESP) vs [8] Juan Ignacio Chela (ARG)

[3] Gilles Simon (FRA) vs Rui Machado (POR)
Carlos Berlocq (ARG) vs Pere Riba (ESP)
David Nalbandian (ARG) vs [LL] Wayne Odesnik (USA)
Filippo Volandri (ITA) vs [5] Juan Monaco (ARG)

Complete draw here.

  1. get well soon Julia, I hope you're feeling better now :)

as much as I like Pico, he also "scares" me as a possible opponent for David. Volandri won this week but that doesn't mean he can win again, should he meet David.
    I'm torn there...

And then again, probably Simon. The Ferrer name on top of the draw sounds really tough.

wait and see, hope David will get some rest.

  2. yes, it sounds tough because this is not Davis Nalbandian

  3. I'd rather have Pico than Volandri.I don't rate Pico that much, just don't think he'll have enough weapons to trouble David to be honest. There will be a high stimulus for nalby in this match as it's at his home. Vamos David!!

  4. Pico won Vina Del Mar title just before Davis Cup, and he won a point for the team. Also, when he's fit he can play long matches on clay, let alone play in Argentina. In other circumstances I wouldn't be worried but lately Pico has been good. We'll see though.

  5. its all on nalbandian if he is good
motivated than all this draw except ferrer maybe is an easy task
but then again he can play bad and lose to the qualifier

  6. Yeah Mira, true say. He's on form and it could be tough. I just think if David's playing a good tennis for his standards, he should make it far in the competition. Ferrer will be a daunting task though lool, big physical battle coz Ferrer never stops
