Boodles Day 3 - David also beats Richard Gasquet

Update
On Tuesday, David started poorly and then improved as the match went on. Today, he played (and especially served) very well in the first set, before then losing it in the second... But in the end, and after another champions tiebreak, David managed to keep his perfect record against Richard Gasquet, winning 6-3, 0-6, 10-5.
What's going to happen now, whether David is going to stay and play his final match at Stoke Park or move on to Wimbledon - we'll see.

You can download the match via David on Screen.

Istabraq was at Boodles again today and once more, David insisted on posing for her camera...

More of her photos on the Photo Page.
And as today was her last day at Boodles, a big round of applause and thank you once again to Istabraq for all the fantastic photos!

Apart from that, tomorrow the Wimbledon draw ceremony will take place at 10am local time.
It will be broadcasted live on Radio Wimbledon and covered in the tournament website's "As it happens" section.

Today, on the third day of Boodles, it's time for David to not only practice on grass and hang out at Stoke Park with his friends that are accompanying him - it's also time to play his second match. Against someone David should like to see on the other side of the net.

David's match record against Richard Gasquet speaks for itself. They've met seven times on the Tour and on all seven occasions David was the winner in the end, including their encounter at Paris 2007, after which Gasquet said he had never faced anyone, playing better tennis.
But although their past matches were often enough one-sided, the closest match they've ever had took place on grass, at the Queen's Club 2008 (where David beat Troicki in an earlier round, by the way). Back then David eventually prevailed in a third-set tiebreak.

It's only an exhibition they're playing today. But if David's first Boodles match is anything to go by, he'll take it seriously enough. And he'll try to keep his perfect record against Gasquet.

A word about the weather. After rain cut short play yesterday, the forecast says there's going to be more rain today... Though it apparently looks like play can start as planned.

And by the way... It was three years ago to the day, that a blog called Vamos David, initially in bright greens and white, made its very first appearance on the internet. Also three years ago to the day, I wrote my first ever post - about David playing Boodles. And now here we are, three years, almost 600 posts and over 8700 comments later... Vamos David. Still going strong. :)

  4. David must give VD a nice victory over Gasquet as a present.

  5. Yeah, happy birthday. :)

And you're right Adrian, a win today is a must. ;)

  6. Happy Birthday VD :)
May David give us a beautiful win against Gasquet and continue his perfect streak against him!

over 8700 comments, VD family is the best :) In sickness and in health, motto remains : Vamos David!

  7. in sickness and in health, seriouslt this was and will still remain our style in VD, we may get angry when he loses sometimes, but we immedieately recover on the next morning and wait anxiously wait for his next appearence.
happy birthday VD, and thank you julia for all the hard work.
A win will be good today :)
but can someone tell me how is this boodles draw work, i really dont understand the format, who plays the final? many players here and there

    ReplyDelete
  8. I think its the winner of this vs Ferrer-Del Potro. These four are the only original players with no loses so I think it should be like this.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Boodles is more like a grass-court training camp with a chance to play matches. Players can always decide to come and go, play or not play matches, as they like. So the schedule and the "draw" change all the time. I mean, in the past they sometimes had two finals... ;)

    And you're welcome, Noubar.
In sickness and health, well, a lot of the time it's David who's sick, or rather - injured.
But so far, we've always managed to keep VD going. Even during Auckland, when I was sick as a dog and Krystle was trapped in the middle of a natural catastrophe... :)

  10. The commentator just called this match with Dokovic and the 3rd one as exhibitions and David-Gasquet as the semifinal haha.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yeah, well. Maybe for the moment. But who knows what's going to be tomorrow... You can never know with Boodles. lol

    ReplyDelete
  12. Happy birthday to Vamos David! And many thanks to you Julia for giving us a place to read about David and discuss his progress :-)

    ReplyDelete
  13. I just wanted to joke that there may be more then 1 final, but then I read that comment from Julia that it has already happened, lol.
Julia, "Auckland" is not over. Be ready for next one in 2012, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh no, please not a week like that again, no matter for which tournament... lol

    And you're welcome, joyce63. :)

  15. The Djokovic Simon match reminds me of his match against David at Queens a few years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Simon is getting schooled, haha,he just yelled to someone in his box, smile Mario smile haha.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wow,they even got the impressions out of him haha, too bad they didnt ask him to do Naby.

    ReplyDelete
  18. David and Gasquet now playing :) stream available on LSH :)
    Vamos El Rey!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I was late again and didn't watch the first 4 games, and the streams for this tournament haven't good quality. What is your impression about the first set?

    ReplyDelete
  20. The commentator keeps calling Gasquet Simon, very bad.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow,didnt except a bagel.

    ReplyDelete
  22. too many errors from David, now to "Super Tiebreak"

    ReplyDelete
  23. But there were lots of close games

    ReplyDelete
  24. one double fault after another by David

    ReplyDelete
  25. Not exactly convincing stuff, but hey, a win's a win :-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I expected that he wins the super tiebreak. The first set he let going away but in the end he played more concentrated again.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Despite the win, which is great,David looked a little tired there towards the end but luckily Gasquet was making errors too.Maybe well see a Delpo-David final on Saturday.Im sure both will try hard to win.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It reminds me to the match against Stepanek in Indian Wells 2008, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Lol Adrian, they will probably give more playing against each in an argentinian competition

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anyways, the Boodles people strike again, its now Ferrer vs Dolgo, wouldnt be surprised if they play Murray and Del Potro, and pair up David and Djokovic and proclaim the winner of that match the champion.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ups,the commentator just said Ferrer will still play Delpo tomorrow. All my theories fall in water, but more importantly I think tomorrow is the Wimbledon draw.

    ReplyDelete
  32. When David was a little tired today he shouldn't play tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ya,I dont think it was even planned,I think hes up on Saturday, but as Julia stated on the front page, who knows if he will play, maybe he just goes down to Wimbledon.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for recording the match Julia :) I couldn't watch it

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, the video department has been a bit lazy, lately. So I take care of things, myself. :P

    ReplyDelete
  36. I will try to help next time, but for some reason RMC isn't working that good anymore for me, especially if it's a Zonein video.

    ReplyDelete
  37. RMC was doing funny things with Bet365 for me on Tuesday. Everything played just a little bit too fast, making things look like something from an old Laurel & Hardy movie... lol
But had to record Bet365 today as the LSH one got stuck.

I hope you're going to help during Wimbledon (if David's matches get shown somewhere). I'll have to rely on the unofficial streams here...

    ReplyDelete
  38. That sounds strange about that fastforwarded video. I myself can't use Bet365 anymore so I can't tell you if I have the same problems. What I do found out, that some streams have to be in Mozilla while others have to be in Chrome :S

Yeah I will help you out with Wimbledon whenever I can. I know there is a Dutch site (only available in Holland) which stores all the televised matches in good quality. I can capture any David match from that archive.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am talking about a Wimbledon archive btw :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. No Bet365 anymore? Because of the deposit?

But that's great that you have site with an archive like that. :)
I won't have anything here, no proper streams, let alone VOD...

Time for VD's VD to get back to work again... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  41. once again, thank you Istabraq for the beautiful photos of David today :) The last pic with Gasquet at the net is really cool.
And the perfect streak against him is still on! The 2nd set 0-6 was so quick, not a Gasquet domination as the score seemed to suggest but David made too many errors, free points for Richard.
thank you Julia for the download link :)

as for the Wimbledon draw *fingers crossed*

still confused with this Boodles draw format lol.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah it's because of the deposit. For some reason my creditcard is not accapted :( So I use Fromsport and LSH. That's why I can't really upload any highlights anymore, because the Bet365 ones were the best in terms of quality and without commercial links above or below.

There will be no proper streams? I never watched Wimbledon on a stream before because all the time there is WM and EM in the even years ;)

    ReplyDelete
  43. One more thing about that archive: They even had the full 11 hour match between Isner and Mahut stored :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. You're welcome, Mira. :)

I've been so lucky getting to see David's matches over the last two weeks - I'm glad I can share a bit of the experience with the VamosDaviders.

Andvari - who would get that match out of the Wimbledon archive for a bit of light viewing?! :0

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am sorry, I don't know what light viewing is lol

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sounds like it was a great day out in Vamos David land. Wasn't able to see any of the matches the last three days because of work. But, like always, VD fills in the details Happy Birthday Vamos David, Many thanks, Julia.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Andvari, there are no official streams here in Germany. Pay-TV still has the rights, for TV and for streams. So I can't watch anything official here.

(And light viewing means just having a bit of fun, watching it, ;)

You're welcome, John. Vamos David land? :) I call it Planet VD, sometimes... lol

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yeah, sorry for running off last night with no video uploaded! But I didn't think the video that I recorded would be any good. Looking at it, it looks like it worked fine...

Zonein doesn't work for me either for recording, but some of the other LSH streams do.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's too bad Julia that you can't watch anything in Germany :(

I see now, light viewing. Well the next first round will be another possible light viewing because Isner and Mahut are again in the 1st Round :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. It's been the same disaster with Wimbledon ever year since 2008. Only that this time I have VD to think of...

Isner and Mahut were scheduled to practice together when they found out, by the way. lol
