David is scheduled fourth on Stadium 3 against the 22nd seed, Jurgen Melzer. Fortunately for us, Indian Wells is the only Masters event that has live streaming of three courts, rather than the usual two.
The schedule looks like this:
STADIUM 3 start 11:00 am
A Clement (FRA) vs [27] M Baghdatis (CYP) - ATP
J Craybas (USA) vs [11] M Bartoli (FRA) - WTA
E Korolev (KAZ) vs [6] R Soderling (SWE) - ATP
[WC] D Nalbandian (ARG) vs [22] J Melzer (AUT) - ATP
M Russell (USA) vs [32] I Andreev (RUS) - ATP
So I guess that is around 4pm local time/11pm GMT/8pm in Argentina depending on how long the earlier matches take. I believe that daylight saving starts in California so play starts one hour earlier than it did for Saturday's play. My TV guide seemed to reflect that, but this website about daylight saving confirms it.
Aside from looking at the Time and Date website, you can also look at the local time in Indian Wells on the official site though it doesn't seem to have been updated today to reflect the daylight saving.
Streams will be available on TennisTV (paid stream), Bet365 (for non-US residents) and also likely on FromSport.com and LiveScoreHunter.com - the usual suspects.

I recherched and tried yesterday some stream recorders, but nearly all of them can't record from justin.tv, US-streams or other streams where are ofter shown tennis. They all only record good from windows media players. Only Jaksta Streaming Recorder can record from justin.tv and many other streams, but only for 1-2 minutes and the recorded video isn't normal, it is 2-3 times faster then the audio. And with WM Recorder 1.4 I can't handle. It doesn't record any streams when I try.
Are you from the US Ashot007?
I think it's really cool by the way that we're all trying to help each other watch matches with recordings. :)
Hye Krystlel!
No, I am from Armenia and was born there too and live now in Austria since nearly 8 years. And my favourite players are Nalbandian, Davydenko, and were also Agassi and Safin.
Hello, guys.
Well according to Clarin David didn't train yesterday because his spasm on his left leg (the one from the DC double match. In spanish is contratura. Don't know if spam is correct)
They said he made some work to recuperate that zone.
this articule IS THE ONLY ONE THAT I READ THAT SAID THIS, but Clarin is VERY acurate usually (was the first one that gave the date of his surgery, for example)
So, I hope this afternoon (night for us) David could play ok. and that he wins, of course ;)
Krystle, you're correct about daylight savings time. It was spring ahead here early this morning. Ugh, I hate it. I live one time zone ahead of California. Thanks for helping Julia out. You're doing a damn fine job.
@Ashot007ARMENIA
I feel your pain with the streams. lol Nothing downloads a justin.tv I've come to learn via research in Forums. There is some kind of copyright protection to Justin that creates a proprietary DRM, so the recorders that work on it are just getting what you get on your screen. Jaksta and programs like that are just fancy screen capture programs. I went through the same problems you went through yesterday. None of the "usual suspects" (lol, Krystle) like Livescorehunter and FromSport put up a downloadable stream yesterday (Vshare, vshare and more vshare, and the one that worked was really Justin.tv via Atdhe.net), so there was no way to save the matches other than by capturing your screen yesterday.
The only solution for getting a quality match to download from a stream is probably to pay for a service like tennis.tv or register and join Bet365 or Bwin. I used a UK proxy to get to Bet365 earlier and finally was able to download a quality video copy. However, it was so slow it timed out after 20 minutes (much better than Vshare which times out after 5 seconds lol), so I'm back at square one. :( I suppose I might sign up for tennis.tv if I can't think of any other solutions. Sky Sport makes you pay PER MATCH, and I don't even think they cover more than 1 match at a time.
I guess more on topic, I read your insights Krystle on Melzer striking the ball early and having a great serve. He is almost 29 years old. Why do you think his game is clicking right now? He recently beat Cilic and Robredo at Dubai before losing to Youzhny in the Semis. David is 1-0 in the H2H, but that was a long time ago. You said Melzer isn't always consistent. Is that from match to match, and if he is hot, watch out, or does he typically have ups and downs during a match?
well, nalbandian's official websites says, he is great on the physical levels, but i have some concerns about the news Anna said though, hope everything is fine and he will play well, Krystle am glad S3 has a stream, ty.but am still hoping the organizers on Aljazeera channel will broadcast that match, in that case i promise u a full HD recording of that match.
That's what his site says?!
Well, I hope they're right, but Clarin was very specific about his spam. Nothing major or serious, but they said he didn't train yesterday.
If he's not well, this match would be very difficult. I didn't watch Melzer play lately, but he's getting very good result and the people his impressed with his game.
Good luck for today, David!
Anna, can you post the link of the Clarin's article, please? Thanks :) I look for it, but I couldn't find it...
Hi, Tamar!
Here you have the articule (I read it on paper, but here is online)
http://www.clarin.com/diario/2010/03/14/deportes/d-02159081.htm
And this is the part about David:
"hoy se presentará por la segunda ronda David Nalbandian ante el austríaco Jürgen Melzer. El cordobés que viene de eliminar al también austríaco Stefan Koubek terminó dolorido en la contractura de la pierna izquierda que arrastra de la Copa Davis y ayer no se entrenó, aunque hizo recuperación de la zona."
Ugh, now FromSport, not only LiveScoreHunter has decided to move to VShare as well... cannot see the appeal in that site!
My internet connection is rubbish and I'm having trouble watching on TennisTV and Bet365.
Aaah, and I would comment something that maybe will help you in your "surprise" of the info of David official's site: I know the people who make the site and update it, and really... (Anna, how do you say in english "dejan mucho que desear"? ;) )
A lot of times they post incorrect info in David's official facebook, and I correct it (posting a comment), and they delete my comment and their post with the incorrect info, and they write a new post with the info I have written in my comment... (eemmm.. it's clear what I said? I think I made a mess with the words!haha). It seems they didn't check the info in another sites... a lot of times they know the same info that we know...
They are really good people, they help me a lot with lots of things with David and my site, but well... I hope you understand what i mean...
Krystle, I'm downloading the Baggy match with the rtmp address for court 3 on bet365, but it keeps timing out after 5 mb or so (random) and I have to keep restarting the save. Is tennis.tv worth it if one already has bet365? Or does it freeze all the time too and also hard to record?
I'm on the verge of getting out my credit card, but realistically, I am getting bet365's stream as well as I can (just need proxy to get URL, not afterwards). My Internet connection is rubbish too. lol
Tamar,
I think what you mean is it "leaves a lot to be desired."
Tim, I don't know. It really depends on your connection. For me, TennisTV is buffering a little less than Bet365, but it used to be more difficult to watch for me. But I do know that if your connection is good then you can watch TennisTV in better quality. And that it can look like a DVD rip on good quality.
Yea, it just timed out on set point at 7-6 (8-7). I give up! lol Beautiful footage is worthless if you miss set point.
I believe the timing out is kind of related to your connection. I mean, it probably happens for everyone but it shouldn't only download 5MB. I got to 44MB before it timed out though it's different everytime...
Ashot007: Sounds like you're a fan of good ball-strikers. I like Davydenko too, sort of. :)
As for the topic on Melzer, I think he has been top 30 for a while now, for the majority of one and a half years as far as I can remember, and he has been there before. I guess, if anything has improved, it's probably his mental strength more than anything else. Otherwise he wouldn't have won his home tournament in Vienna last year. He does have a repetitive tendency to get tight at the end of sets, by trying to go for too much. He seems to be a little better in this area lately though, not as obvious. Maybe also his shot selection has improved, something that improves with maturity? I don't know. I still think of him as the same inconsistent player except in better form sometimes lol.
@Tim
Do you watch the stream while you're downloading or do you watch the fresh download with delay while the stream is closed and download continues?
FYI all. Murray's match just started on atdhe.net and no problems so far. Was watching Bags earlier on fromsport.com and had nothing but issues - timeouts, all kinds of popups, picture freezing up. You're right Krystle, VShare is bad news. Hope David's match is on atdhe.net.
Hmm I don't think David's match will pop up on atdhe.net though? They seem to only be streaming Stadium 1.
@Andvari I have 2 laptops and 2 different connections. I've got it on my better laptop and connection, but I'm just watching it download and time out. I'm not watching the stream on that laptop.
I'm getting about a minute of decent footage (on average), then WM Recorder has an option to "Record Again" and it creates a new file name with new number at the end (i.e. (10), (11), (12), etc.), so when it stops for 2 seconds (that always means it done from observation), I click "Record Again" and it starts downloading again. I'm getting great footage, but missing about 5 seconds between stops and re-trys.
Between matches when screen says "Match to begin soon", it downloads forever without stopping. lol
Oh, RMC is even worse in timing out it and doesn't have an easy "re-do" method (it wants to over-write the same file). And when I did the basketball game off Atdhe.net on Friday, it never timed out..it did the whole game.
I know what you mean Tamar ;)
Hey, Davydenko retired due to a broken wrist?! (that's what it says at the official site in the result of matches) WTF?
Poor guy! I know a lot of people couldn't care less about him, but without David playing, he was one of the few that I tolerate watching:I grow bored of players jut hitting harder and harder the ball, not matter the nationality.
tim, looks like soda will put this match into bed very quickly, hopefully 1 hour and we c dave on court...
we have no idea the which level david is playing, we didnt c his 1sr round match, and i dont know hoe koubek played then, all we can do now is wishing a good luck for our man
@Krystle:
I can record matches here at my work. I have got the code for WIFI from my collegue. I am recording the Soderling match now and it works perfectly.
ok Next nalby, sod is finished.
the good news is that monfils is losing, which makes me more nervous wanting david to in this match, cuz looks like the 3rd round match could be easier from the 2nd round after all.
I just caught the entire Soda-Korolev match by using a two tiered approach. WMR on laptop #1 and RMC on laptop #2. The time-outs have no rhyme or reason so when one timed out the other kept going. lol
I wanted that match badly enough and luckily it was also on Court 3, so I'm ready to get David's match too. I won't comment during the match that much, as I have to keep watching both laptops to re-start the frozen one. :) But I should be able to get the match.
sounds great Tim m8, u finally found the best solution, vamos nalby fanz, only minutes before the match up, am already nervous like hell,
It just said that Jurgen is also 28 years old which makes me feel a bit better going into the match...I thought he was like 23 or 24 but it looks like he's a veteran too.
Julia's countryman is helping us out here. Now all David has to do is do his part. So glad the match is on atdhe.net
Nalbandian's come out pretty sharp here today, 2 holds already and a deuce on Melzer's opener, and so far it seems like Melzer plays a high risk game, and he just goes for big hits, so on the technical side David's got him beat... there has already been some sloppy play from Jurgen. I give David the win 6-4, 7-6 or vice-versa.
Well, David had to DF on break point to gift Melzer the game, and eventually the set. Now, it's up to David to regroup here.
David's essential rustiness is showing here. He's not playing bad but the errors are coming at the most inoppurtune times.
Hardesky: even if David is sharp today. Melzer is on fire today. And David still needs adjust his tennis. He has to adjust the steps to reach the ball, more speed, use more his legs... all that due to the lack of playing.
All that considering (now he's 1-5 on the second set) and for a player without a year without competition against a player on fire and showing a level of a top 15 player? a good sing. A LOT TO DO STILL, but the worst things to recover are still there.
Pity because MOnfils is out, but Melzer is playing excellent
Well, he lost.
It was the obvious thing to happen, guys.
David and his team said that his first four month will be really hard
Unfortunately he lost.. I just hope he remains ok physically and can improve his play.
Credit to Melzer who played exceptionally well. David will apprecite the size ofthe task aheadof him now.
I was not surprised he lost, as from the beginning i said so.but the tons of unforced errors he did, really made the job easier for melzer, i saw the match on TV, i was shocked, couldnt believe what i saw, as i knew, david plays the best on the important points, today he did just exactly the opposite, return was absolutely horrible, the commentators obviously wanted nalby to win, they said i cannot believe this returns are coming from the best returner on tour, but he finished saying this is normal, we are glad he is back, he must put more work for miami.
bottom line, i knew he was gna lose, but not like this.
@Benji: I think a lot of errors were because Melzer was a wall today. Every balls David hitted, came back. So he went for the lines or risking a lot.
And still, he has to adjust to play again some situations.
He needs to recover his timing, getting back the speed he has before (in spanish would be "recuperar la velocidad de juego"). But all in all, is wasn't all that bad. Maybe because I was almost sure that he wasn't going to win (besides logic, don't know, called a hunch) I just watched without getting nervous or anything (or not as usual) so as I said before, for a guy with only three matches after almost a year without playing because a hip surgery, not bad at all. The first set was really tight and Melzer was playing like hell.
David's lack of play finally caught up with him. But still I think he's done better so far than I would have thought. He's definitely making progress. Plus Melzer was en fuego. On to Miami now.
That wasn't much fun at all, although I agree it was probably inevitable everything would catch up with him, Anna. :(
Melzer was really wailing on his second serve in the second set. He really did look quite in form and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go far once again. Not a good opponent to run into right now when the rust is showing. This match seemed like a combination of David playing wearily and Melzer really looking sharp. David only had one break point on Melzer's serve too. David seemed at his best in the first couple of games again today. It's hard to say what to make of this one other than it is the first truly disappointing match since he came back. After 4-4 in the first set, that was just lousy. :(
The return thing? Is a sign of lack of timing. Specially with a left handed player.
He needs to adjust things gain confidence with certain shots. And I insist, get the timing back: one thing is a break point against a top player and another against some ATP 60 or similar.
This needs more matches... his idea was getting them on BS As and Acapulco (lower players than here)...
And comparing David's match with some from Cilic, Simon or what happened to MOnfils, who was the one who didn't play since past May?
David is the talent in person, but like everybody, he needs matches to get into the competition.
plus, this heat thing , he must do something about it, i always feel he struggles with the sun.If u want my opinion, i agree the bastard melzer played like hell, i felt it was nadal out there only better and faster, but still it felt like david didnt care much, just like he wanted everything to end, and wants to get back to the hotel room, Y does he play better when he represents his country? lol and y he had 2 play 3 left handers in a row?
And the last thing.. let's be honest.. is not like David didn't have this kind of days before, ejem... He has this kind of matches even when he was the ATP 4.
I love David, but that's the hard truth.
100% couldnt agree more, i remember i used to worry when i c david with a player he never played before on the draw, he used to fall to them sometimes, but never, he never played bad when he faced the top players.
Yea, lots of upsets today I noticed, including Monfils. I would never have guessed the R32 would be Melzer vs. Greul. lol
It's a long season and Indian Wells IS in a desert, Noubar, and I agree David doesn't like the heat. This gives him time to rest up for Miami and work on that serve. Good for him and us to get that out of our system. :)
hahah ow ya, anywayz am off to bed, gd night every1.
whatever happens, david is the 1, we r with him to the last moment, but IW is over 4 me, Davydenko out, monfils, simon , and news about djokovic now (not yet confirmed), i dont give a fuk who wins this shyt anymore.
Noubar: often aplayer knows when it's not his day. There are times when David fought like hell and won and were in way more complicated matches than others where he acted like today (not talking about important tournaments). Someone said that David has an incredible lecture of the game: he just knows when he can win or has a chance and when there's no way because it's the day of the rival. Today was one of those days. And I'm not even counting the surgery thing. He knew he was playing well (the firsts games David played really sharp) and still Melzer was peachy. And, I think, he knew he needed a level of playing that he didn't have YET to beat him. Because if I could see it, I think he saw it better.
In other day of Melzer? Perhaps he could have a very good chance (playing like he did in the first set). With Melzer playing like today? Simply... not. At least not yet
yup, so true wut u said, he still didnt have the necessary power to beat him.i kept saying in the 2nd set, maybe he wil do what he did with berdych in madrid 2007, but didnt look like it.
anywayz now we will have to wait for the miami draw, somehow i feel like its gna be federer in the 1st round lol tc Anna n gd night
Lots of great points as always, Anna! Agree with everything you wrote. We were spoiled with the results he was giving us and he ran into a real hot opponent today. I'll be checking out how Melzer does the rest of the tourney. He made it to the Semis in his last tourney in Dubai. Now I see why. David will give him a match when he starts getting near the top of the parabola in the recovery period. He is just starting right now.
Andvari, I got the match recorded. I don't think too many people are going to want to play this one though from their David vid collection though. lol I'll upload it if anyone wants it.
Night Noubar! Didn't like what I heard about Kolya and Nole either. Only highlight for me today was Soda. He got revenge on Korolev who had his number prior to today.
@Tim
Yeah I recorded it as well and I think there are still people who couldn't watch it. I know Krystle couldn't see it and would like an upload to watch the match without knowing the outcome. I can't upload now here at work, because the upload keeps giving errors.
I am still glad I could see David play today although he lost. A scoreboard is more frustrating for me. Well I hope I will win tomorrow in my own first round tennismatch lol
Andvari, just got to your message. Needed to get away from computers for awhile. lol
Go ahead and upload the match if you have it in one piece. I have it in about 120 different pieces I'd have to put together, and since I got the Soda match in the same manner, and that was a feel good match, I can better put my time to putting that one together as my official release. I'd rather my first David release be a "W". Thank you so much as always! I am still enjoying the Davis Cup victories from last weekend. :)
And good luck in your first round match tomorrow. I'll try and catch up on that story later on FB. Watch that match AFTER you play your own! lol
Yeah I have it in one piece Tim, I'll upload it when I am home.
And thanks!
Nalbandian out, Sharapova out, Davydenko with the broken wrisp... :(
I don't want to watch Indian Wells this year any more
I knew that Melzer is playing in a good form and serving well.
But David served until 4:4 in 1. set well too (better than he normally serves), but then his serves were the same "Nalbandian" serves and he had no chance against a Melzer who was playing like a top 10 player.
So David lost....far far away from his best level..try to improve for Miami dear Nalby
When David improves himself, it comes after 2 or 3 rounds normally.
He was not really bad, but he made to much unforced errors yesterday and his serve got bad after 4:4in 1. set.
I managed to record the match myself too. Amazingly I recorded the entire day's play on Stadium 3 without Replay Media Catcher stopping.
I have a question to ask though. No idea whether anyone is here at this hour. Where are all the pictures to break up this article I've just written and make it more readable? lol I cannot find any photos from this latest match.
Krystle,
I just read your last comment now. (=:
It is clear that my Internet connection(s) are awful. They are wireless ones for my laptops, for one thing, and you know how flaky that can be. Secondly, I went to sign up for Tennis.tv that Sunday of the match, but couldn't even get the demo to play during the sign-up process. It remminded me that I had attempted to watch the Tennis Channel via Veetle in the past during big matches, but didn't have enough bandwidth to even have that stream play in a normal manner. So there was no point in signing up for it.
I stumbled upon a UStream at Atdhe.net (and also at Ustream.net) that was extremely clean, and I was finally able to download matches the rest of the week without getting time outs. But it takes me getting an optimal stream like that one for that to happen, and the one on Bet365 is better than most but still only gives me about 5 to 20 mgs before completely stalling. I should get something more stable than wireless, but move for my work all the time and have two "full power" connections, so it always appears pointless.
