Still, I think Schwank deserves credit for making this match a lot more competitive than I for one thought it would be.
Update
After the second rubber and at the end of Day 1, Argentina and Sweden are now tied at 1-1.
Argentina's #1 Leonardo Mayer fought back from a set down to defeat Joachim Johansson 5-7, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4. All of that in Mayer's first Davis Cup singles match (and his second overall).
His victory grants the Argentine team what's probably the best result they could realistically hope for after the first day.
And it also means that absolutely nothing has been decided yet.
Here's a (bad) screencap I've taken of David, congratulating Mayer after the match...

Update II
It has been clear pretty much since David arrived in Stockholm but by now, Tito Vázquez has officially confirmed that David will play the doubles.
We'll definitely use David tomorrow – he hasn't just come to watch. It's great for us to have a fresh guy in the doubles and he will play with Horacio Zeballos. (Source: Davis Cup website.)Whether or not David will also play on Sunday, perhaps even against Söderling, is still the subject of much speculation. My guess would be that David will have to wait and see how tough the doubles will be for him and in what kind of shape he is, afterwards.

ok it's that simple now,
Mayer must win, if not, i think david should go back immediately to California, if he wins it, it will be an exciting double match 2morrow.
but let me be honest Soderling survived a little scare today, who know am thinking Mayer can beat Soda after all, the swede wasn't that special today, lets wait for Mayer, cuz its bla bla bla means nothing before we know that is it gna be 1-1, or 2-0 at the end of d day.gd luck Argentina
I thought Schwank played quite well, aside from the first set which I didn't see. Certainly there was nothing to criticise about his performance. He was very solid and didn't really make too many bad errors, and he fought hard too, didn't give up or get dejected even when he was two sets to love down. The courts didn't really seem lightning fast so I guess Mayer was right about that.
Won't David play against Soderling?
i dont think so ashot, maybe johanson if they win the doubles
Great match right now with Mayer up 2 sets to 1 over Pim Pim. This may be 1-1 going into the doubles match tomorrow. Like Noubar, I'm really not hoping for too much drama here, as David needs to play well in Indian Wells. But it looks like were going to get some anyway. lol
Mayer looks really sharp. He should be the leading player for Argentina and play Robin on Sunday if necessary. David should play the second match against Pim Pim only if necessary.
BTW, that was a poor match from Robin after the first set. He looked totally off his game and was an unforced error machine hitting way too long on so many points. His first match after not playing for awhile is normally his worst match though. Rotterdam was exactly the same way. He looked like a different player by the time he faced Benneteau, Kolya and Youzhny after almost losing his first 2 matches.
Tim, the drama has just started, its 1-1, and we are heading into a doubles match that involves a Nalbandian-Soderling complex, whoever wins tomorrow, the drama is on,but if Argentina was ment to be, i think they r gonna let nalbandian play pimpim
Leonardo is a bloody legend-never thought he could beat Pim-Pim indoors! He out-aced him to boot.
Looking forward to Dahveed strutting his stuff tomorrow!
Noubar, lmao...great match from Mayer. I thought Pim Pim was pretty on his game. Leonardo has been playing impressively all year. The Soda-Mayer match is not as one-sided as it might have seemed going into the tie.
David is there in Sweden....why do I almost know it will somehow be 2-2 with one match to play on Sunday afternoon? lol Fasten your seat belts, tomorrow's doubles match is now huge...
Are they still gonna show the doubles tomorrow on bet365? I don't see a link anymore in the live streaming.
Hmm, right now it just says they'll show the Serbia/USA tie. Which is indeed a bit weird. Maybe the link will still appear tomorrow.
But there are also other streams. And justin.tv if all else fails. But you can't record justin.tv streams, right?
Yeah that's true. I can never capture Justin tv. Well, hopefully they will show it somewhere. I only won't be able to watch the whole match, so thats too bad, but most important is that everything will go allright with David tomorrow!
The Argentine justin.tv streams will show it, come what may. And I'm sure there'll be enough other streams as well.
And yeah, let's hope all goes well with David tomorrow...
I think Bet365 will show it. They didn't have a link for the singles before the matches started either.
Please give us the links on the home page if you can Julia, that would be great. (I don't have a bet365 account)
Hi guys, so is it really confirmed that David is gonna play the doubles today? In the Davis cup it's still written R.LINDSTEDT / R.SODERLING (SWE) v. L.MAYER / H.ZEBALLOS (ARG).
For those who were looking for livestreams, I watched both matches yesterday on http://www.atdhe.net/ and hopefully they will show today'smatch too
The Nalbandian Official Site on Facebook put this out:
"Desde las 11 hs del sábado, con transmisión en vivo por TyC, David sale a la cancha para jugar el crucial punto de dobles junto a Horacio Zeballos."
Google translation:
"From 11 pm Saturday with live broadcast by TyC, David goes out to the field to play the crucial doubles point with Horacio Zeballos."
So that TyC link we used for the exhibition matches should work if nothing else does. I used Livescorehunter for the rubbers yesterday, and their were 7 different links including the one off Atdhe.net that I also used, Camilia.
The Serbia/USA match for Nole vs. Querrey must have had around 20 different links. lol But all links were published within an hour of the matches starting, so it was useless to look for them until that point.
Camilia, yes, it has been confirmed that David will play. And it's normal that line-up changes like that only appear on the DC website etc at the very last moment. (Because they're officially submitted only shortly before the match.)
As for streams, it's true that most links are not available until an hour or so before the match. I'll post whatever links I can find, whether directly to streams or to sites offering streams, in time for the match. You'll find those links in the sidebar. And I'll probably also embed one of the justin.tv streams.
FYI everybody. There are already 2 streams listed on fromsport.com, one of which is Bet365.
Thanks, John. I'll start gathering and putting up the different links when I've finished my post.
