I'll try my best to keep you posted.
Update (Friday, 29/01)
As a Chilean TV station reports, the organisers at Viña Del Mar have tried to win over David for playing their tournament after Tommy Haas and Richard Gasquet had to withdraw because of injuries. The event starts coming Monday and David would've had to make his decision today.
But, as the article on station's website puts it, "even though he would've liked to come to Chile, he didn't like the idea of risking an aggravation of his physical problems as his main goal remains to be playing the tournament in Buenos Aires." (Source.)
It would've been a little early for him, anyway.
Meanwhile, Argentina's Davis Cup captain Tito Vázquez has had to answer questions about David like this one here.
Q: Can we win the Davis Cup without Nalbandian?
Vázquez: We need David and we're waiting from him [to return]. Hopefully he can recover [in time]. He may have been away for eight months but he's still a Top Ten player.

Finally, here's a little video... I've been wanting to post it for a while now but this seems to be the right moment. (Thanks, Easwar.)

Ya, I believe david won Cilic 6-1/6-1/6-2 in his own country, pretty much destroyed him, thats y he left a mark on the guy , which proves again that david is the best davis cuper on tour.
awww Marin, now I'm gonna root for him to win the AO :P
Well, Cilic was how old at the time of that DC match - 17, 18? But yeah, David definitely left a lasting impression, enough to mention him after having faced him only once, years ago...
I mean, Gasquet was a pretty safe bet for picking David. ;)
ell, according to several articules David is NOT going to play in Viña Del Mar. He had a reserved invitation and had until today (Friday,29th) to confirm. But he said he wasn't 100% recovered still.
Funny thing, Andreev and Gaudio will have to play the qualy because the WC went to chilean players. Wich is ok, but we're talking about a former champion of that tournament and RG champion.
I didn't want David playing there because the public is way agressive with the argentine players. So, I'm kinda happy about David not going there. I hope he will be ok to play the next week.
Yeah, that's what the article says. Maybe the part I wrote was a bit misleading. Fixed it now. :)
And it would've been too early for him anyway.
Costa Do Sauipe, if possible, is surely the better option. Though it's a weird tournament...
why Anna ? Chileans dont like Argentines? gonzo likes david as far as i know lol
There're between us some quarrels, nothing big (except for that DC tie when the public trow chairs to the players)
Between players there's no trouble: Massu, Gonzo and the argentine gets along. Even the people at the street, there're no problem. It's more relate to sports.
But the public don't treat well the argentine players, like the brazilian either when the other player is local. and often when they play here, the public will scream for the other player (like happened with Baghdatis vs Gonzo).
Nothing serious and often related to sports.
tanks 4 makin it clear anna.
Julia. any news about confirming Brazil ? cuz its in 7 days? any article concerning that topic ?
He'll make his comeback at the Copa Telmex, I've just seen it.
Post coming up...
