Injury could force Nalbandian out of Olympics
7/12/08 12:49 PM | David Cox
The mystery injury which affected David Nalbandian during his first round loss at Wimbledon was revealed yesterday.
Nalbandian was surprisingly monosyllabic during the post-match press conference, hinting that there was an injury of sorts but refusing to comment any further.
Yesterday his physiotherapist Diego Rodriguez revealed to sports newspaper Ole that Nalbandian is struggling with a right arm injury and is currently undergoing a recovery program. Nalbandian says that he will definately not compete again till he is 100% fit but he may need surgery, an option his team have yet to decide upon.
He is already almost certainly not going to compete in Toronto or Cincinatti and if he does choose to go under the knife he could miss all of the US hard court season. The Olympics would definately be out and he would be a major doubt for the US Open

Okay, so now it's an arm injury?
After Diego Rodriguez did a couple of other interviews talking about the hernia stuff? - This is all very, very strange...
It's official now, David is not going to play the Rogers Cup.

However, there's a post on his MTF messageboard (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=7357061&postcount=3206) quoting a new article in which there's not a word about any arm problem. Instead, David is reported to be preparing for the Olympics. Whether or not he'll play Cincy has apparently not been decided, yet.
Thanks for all that information, Julia. It's good that the Spanish article refers frankly to the "pubic zone" since being coy about such things really doesn't help, in my own view. I hope he does do Cincy so as to get some match practice in.
