For David, Being in the Olympic Games is Priceless
He could not play in the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004. An unfortunate injury prevented him from taking the singles tennis test. But this year, David Nalbandian set the Olympic Games as one of his paramount objectives in the season: add one medal for Argentina in the Olympic Games in Beijing. “The Olympic Games are really important for what they represent to the country. Sometimes tennis players do not consider the Games so important because they are not in the schedule every year, but amateur players do everything they can to be in the Games. Being there is priceless”, David points out, clearly showing the great value he gives to wearing the Argentine shirt in Beijing. On his frustrated participation in Athens, he said: “I want to get my own back in Beijing. In Athens, it was really nice to live together with all the athletes in the village; it was a pity I was not able to play. But this year, we’ll try to win a medal”, he stated. David, together with the basketball and soccer teams, is one of the greatest hopes to bring a medal.
